Venice

Venice, is considered one of the most romantic and most famous cities in the world! Known as the city of love, it has always been famous and unique, not just in Italy but in the world. The unique charm of its graceful canals that carry romantic gondolas has no equal in the world! Venice consists of 121 islands that are well connected by 435 bridges, each offering different and unexpected views. It is a magical place, beautiful, fun, and full of little alleys to get lost in. There are museums, palaces and historic town squares to explore, and endless gelato to eat! Everyone comes here, Venice is on everyone’s “must see” list!

Our apartment is conveniently located in the Cannaregio area, within a short 15 mins walking distance from the main train station facing a serene canal. In the evening, this canal is very lively and you can have a lovely aperitivo along the water in one of the many renowned restaurants very close to the apartment. Cannaregio is the ancient Jewish Ghetto (the oldest in Europe) an area of wonderful churches offering delightful walks and surprises around every corner. And, if you feeling lucky there’s the Casino di Venezia right down the street from the apartment!

Venice, can only be explored on foot or by water on ferries, boats or gondolas. If you want to stay in the "Serenissima", as the city was known as in the past, you cannot miss an exciting vaporetto ride on the majestic Grand Canal! Stop at the Piazza San Marco and enjoy a coffee, and visit the stunning Basilica di San Marco located in the heart of the piazza, glowing with Byzantine gold mosaics. Marvel at Campanile di San Marco, built in 1912. This tower in Piazza San Marco is a replica of the original Bell Tower of St. Mark. The National Archaeological Museum’s collection of Greek sculptures, Roman busts, funerary stelae and more, dates back to the 1st century BCE. Visit the Ponte di Rialto and the old Rialto market that takes you back in time to the ancient Venetian atmosphere. For a breathtaking view, pop into the glitzy new  Fondaco dei Tedeschi  shopping mall and take the escalator up to the roof terrace. Walk over the Ponte dei Sospiri, or the Bridge of Sighs named so, because prisoners would sigh at the beautiful view before being taken down to their cells! Other incredible sights include the memorable Gothic Doge’s Palace full of beautiful art! Explore the Peggy Guggenheim Collection a massive, avant-garde collection of art with works from more than 200 artists. There are countless pieces by surrealists, abstract expressionists, and Italian futurists.

If you love beautiful objet d’art head to some of the outer islands like Burano and Murano. Murano is famous throughout the world for its centuries old secret glass processing technique. Burano is famed for it’s hand made lace and colourful architecture. If you want to relax on the beach, Lido is an island just 20 mins from Venice by vaporetto. There are plenty of picturesque canals here as well, and restaurants, cafes, and bars. Best time to visit Venice is in Spring and Fall. However, don’t miss the glamor of the Carnevale that takes over the entire city in February!

For lovers of concerts, ballets and operas, Florence’s Opera di Firenze is located just across the street from this apartment. The US Consulate & the French Consulate are very close as are several 5 star hotels including the St. Regis and the Westin Excelsior, which has a rooftop bar with an awesome view of the Arno river the Duomo and the bridges of Florence! Cascine park, the green lungs of the city, where you can relax, jog and bike ride, attend a music festival in the summer or pick up an antique at a weekend flea market or have an aperitivo at the Pavoniere public swimming pool, among centuries old trees. The area has all amenities such as supermarkets, shops, banks, a post office and pharmacies. There are several cafe's, bars & restaurants serving local and international food such as Indian, Korean, Mexican, Chinese and Japanese cuisines.

We are also conveniently located across from the historic Stazione Leopolda, home to exclusive events, trade fairs, art exhibitions, conventions, and fashion shows during Pitti Immagine, Stazione Lepolda is known for its rich history and elegant architecture, and was built at the beginning of the 1800s and the exterior was renovated in 1996 by Gae Aulenti. At this location, you will not be the one dragging your luggage through hundreds of tourists to get to the station/airport! The apartment is well served by public transport such as mini-buses and the Tramvia from "Porta al Porta Leopolda" station across from the apartment. Very close to central train station Santa Maria Novella (10 minutes walk or 1 stop by tramvia) and 25 minutes by car or Tramvia from Florence Peretola Airport.
